When I arrived there were four others fishing all on the spit of land, one on the end facing the peg I wanted to fish, none doing much though.
Decided on a peg on the LHS, tried a banjo feeder for the first time fished close to the island and planned a second line for the pole in the margins on the corner which never got used.
View towards Heron peg....I fished to the left of the Heron |
1st cast and the tip wraps round after a couple of minutes, a smallish carp on, but unfortunately no landing net, which I had forgotten along with any rod rests!
I managed to land the fish by hand and a second that quickly followed.
Fortunately I was able to borrow a small net from another angler, Barrie Roberts, and carried on. The first three carp were on corn then I switched to a small white pop up boilie which accounted for a further 7 carp.
Managed a total of 10 carp to 7lb, and was napped up twice. Some nice mirrors all in very good condition.
All in all a good little session.
